Probably could've posted this a while, but whatever.  This track is by Paper Tiger, who from what I can tell is basically a one-man, non-guitar-using version of Ratatat.  The track itself is a nice instrumental built around a nice piano riff, some soul samples, and various beats.  The hypnotic whole is definitely greater than the sum of its parts on this song.  Enjoy! This was a really slow weekend for music, which worked out well because this weekend was ridiculously busy for me.  A highlight of the last few days was attending Relay For Life, an incredibly powerful and moving experience.  After hearing stories from individuals profoundly affected by cancer, we all walked around the track in silence, for that moment unified in our sympathy and resolve.

Finding a new band is always fun (even if I'm always a little late), and the one I have tonight is pretty good.  Like Chiddy Bang, this group combines a rapper (Kinetics) and a producer (One Love) to form the creatively titled Kinetics and One Love.  Though I prefer Chiddy Bang both in terms of lyrics and production, Kinetics and One Love still have some nice songs with a more electronic lean.

I came really close to not posting anything today before finding this sick mashup of Mos Def's "Mathematics" and Zion I's "Coastin'".  These are both two fantastic songs, and the piano riff complements Mos Def's vocals very well.  I would also recommend checking out the original versions of both songs, as the original Premo beat on "Mathematics" is crazy and "Coastin'" is a nice chill song. Yesterday, we had a (short) discussion in the comments about me posting hip-hop.  I said this: " I'm not gonna stop posting hip-hop, but as my music knowledge increases I can be more selective with the hip-hop I post because I now have alternatives ," and that's what I'll stand by. Yes, I know I still need to review Plastic Beach, Valleys of Neptune, and Broken Bells (and College Dropout, I know), but AC/DC's Iron Man 2 Soundtrack is an easy one to do and I'm tired.  The album is a nice mix of the big AC/DC songs (Back In Black, T.N.T.) and some lesser known ones.   If anything, this served to get me even more excited for Iron Man 2 (which doesn't even seem possible).  AC/

Today we have two mashups which go outside of the mashup convention of a hip hop vocal over a different instrumental.  One song combines the child-choir vocals of Justice's Dance with the fantastic Mo-Town production of The Jackson 5's I Want You Back, and the other is an interesting mix of Young Folks by Peter Bjorn and John (everyone loves that whistle) and the epic 1901 by Phoenix.  Check both

Today we have a really amazing, semi-old song from Sufjan Stevens.  This song really worries me because it's from 2005. 2005? Really? I think I discovered the issue I was having with finding indie music. In hip-hop the most popular stuff is likely the worst, and the best music is a few degrees below that.  In indie, the music I enjoy most is the most popular indie which is by definition of indie a few degrees below what is the most popular.  So yeah, basically I put way too much thought into this.  Anyway, here is a track from
