Interesting music day for sure. I have two mixtapes: Big Sean's Finally Famous vol. 3, which has been waiting to drop for what seems like forever. and newcomers SomeWhere Elses debut mixtape, Master Basement. They're both real nice. There's also a Kanye West remix of Justin Bieber? I just pretend that Bieber is like some random girl that he picked to sing the hook. I also added some new XV, a Drake reference track which is actually pretty good, and a nasty Nas cover of Slick Rick's Hey Young World.
Here's yet another of me having a sweet mixtape for a few weeks and forgetting to post about it. Here are my favorite two tracks from Moxie Black's debut mixtape, How Did This Happen. Moxie continues that electro-pop-rock-rap vibe that seems to have become the norm for new artists, but manages to sound original at the same time. Enjoy these tracks, and check out the mixtape. Also, I'm trying out a new download solution which will hopefully make everything a lot smoother. Just right click on the player and choose "download document".
Sup. Bitches. This is PJ here with another playpen special. Radical Thought is a two person mixing group starring myself and Sam Abrahms. Get used to the name. Recently we compiled all of our songs to date into a mixtape called THE BROOMDOCK SAINTS. The reason the tape is called that is because it incorporates one of Sam’s nicknames, Brooms, into the title. Cheeky, huh? Well anyways this new mixtape has some really good mixes and it has some absolute shit mixes. Like really. Not gonna lie, I have no idea what we were on when we did some of these. They are that bad. Otherwise there are some good listening tunes. Might I suggest Break Ya Board, Air Time, Rollin’ Remix, and Fireflies Off Your Shoulder. Also, Lupe Jerk and When was the last time you jerked? get you in the jerking mood. I hope you like it, and there will be a new single coming out that should get some attention, it’s quite delicious. So have a listen, download that shit, tell everyone, and think radically my friends. Peace out, fuckers.
Alright, let's get back to it. Here are the three craziest songs from the last 2 weeks. There's an insane Power remix, an incredible new Cee-Lo joint, and a sick mash-up by local legends Radical Thought. Enjoy this, because it's rare that three songs this good come out so close together.
I promised myself that I would only listen to leaked tracks from Kanye West's still-to-be named masterpiece once in order to prevent them from getting played out (happened to me with Man on the Moon). However, according to the leaked tracklist, this song is not on the album, which led to me playing this song nonstop for the last two days. Beyonce and Charlie Wilson join Ye on a sick song that has that soul sound from Kanye's College Dropout days. Too excited or September 14th. Also, might not be posting for a week or so. Sorry, it's gonna be O-Week.
Here are two songs which fit my emotions right now pretty well. Both are melancholy, but still optimistic.Incidentally, you can find of these tracks on Volume 2 of the Friday Night Lights soundtrack, which is interesting because that show is set in Texas which is where I'm headed. Enjoy these songs, and remember that though we leave people behind, the memories will always remain.
Probably could've posted this a while, but whatever. This track is by Paper Tiger, who from what I can tell is basically a one-man, non-guitar-using version of Ratatat. The track itself is a nice instrumental built around a nice piano riff, some soul samples, and various beats. The hypnotic whole is definitely greater than the sum of its parts on this song. Enjoy!
SomeWhere Else is a nice new band out of LA comprised of three emcees and a guitarist. It sounds like a strange combination, but it works really well. Definitely give this song a listen.
Not a lot going around the web so far today, so here's my two favorite tracks so far from Wale's More About Nothing. The Soup is just a crazy hot banger (I mean, it samples the Soup Nazi so yeah, it's awesome), and The War is a nice smooth track with Daniel Merriweather killin' it on the hook. Scroll down to yesterday's post to get the whole tape and stay tuned for my biggest post to date later this week or early next.
Wale dropped the sequel to his Seinfeld inspired "Mixtape About Nothing", and it is niiiice. His mixtapes have always been awesome, and this one is no exception.
(This post clearly was meant for the day I got back, but technical difficulties pushed it back to today.) I just got back from an incredible journey, first through Houston and then through the lakes of Northern Wisconsin. Throughout these trips, this laid-out, spacey banger by brandUn DeShay served as my soundtrack. You won't find this song by itself anywhere else, so, yeah. Kind of a big deal. Enjoy, and look for new stuff comin at you tomorrow.
