Update: 6/30

Oh yeah, forgot to tell you guys.  I've been in Thailand for the last week, which is why there haven't been any posts.  I'll be here until July 7th.

Listen To This: The Fire (Remix)/Weight Of The World

Two tracks today. In the first track, B.o.B hops on a remix of a track by The Roots off of their upcoming album, How I Got Over.  The second is nice song which serves as the intro theme for the TV show Infomania, which is kind of a less political Daily Show aimed at lampooning the media and popular culture.  I also included a clip from one of my favorite Infomania segments, Music Intervention.

I Liked It: Toy Story 3

I'm gonna keep this really short because I really don't have that much to say. The movie was perfect. Flawless. Masterful. Amazing. Unequaled. A triumph of cinema.  Plot, voice acting, animation, pacing, action, humor, 3D, characters, other parts of a movie? All spot-on.  I knew the ending, not because the movie was stupid or predictable, but because the end was just the way it had to be all along.  Pixar continues to deliver more humanity in their animated films about toys than 99% of movies with actual people in them.  Wow. Just wow.  The new standard not only for sequels or animated films, but for movies in general.

Something I Like: Zach Anner's Oprah Audition Tape

Wow, I seriously have so much respect for this guy.  Truly inspiring. Also, while I'm typing right now I'd also like to add that US soccer got totally robbed today due to some referee bullshit, and that I officially kind of like Passion Pit finally.

Listen To This: REVOFEV

The Kid's still got it. New Kid Cudi single from Man On The Moon II.  I prefer his more upbeat stuff, but this is still pretty nice.  I've got a bunch of bonus tracks too.

Listen To This: 6/14

Alright. I had a hectic weekend, so here's a bunch of good music I missed while I was busy.  They're listed with most recent first.  I know it's a lot and I don't have audio previews, so I bolded the ones that you should listen to at least once.  Also, I'm aware the picture isn't music related, but hey, it's the World Cup and Dempsey is a boss.

Listen To This: Cinderella Man

This will probably get taken down soon by whoever keeps taking down my blog posts, but I just wanted to share a scorching song from Eminem's Recovery which should help you in answering the question "Should I buy Recovery?" Answer: YES. The album is 17 sick songs (Not Afraid and Not Love are not even the best tracks). Even if you haven't been a fan of Em in the past, you'll like it if you like hip-hop. No download link for this one, just listen and get excited for the album.

Listen To This: Like OMG, Baby

This is the newest mashup from DJ Earworm, created using only artists performing at the Summertime Ball concert in England's Wembley Stadium.  This one is not as good as the year end ones, but it's still interesting.

Listen To This: 6/07

I've talked about my past mixed feelings about Big Sean before, but he just keeps getting better.  As of now, I'm pretty sure I like him, and that his CD will be fire.  Enjoy this nice new cut and support G.O.O.D. music.  I also have two great songs from Eminem's next album, which seems to have sprung a major leak.  Recovery seems a little bit more accessible than his past work, and should be one of the top rap albums of the year. If you haven't really listened to him recently but liked him on "Forever", you'll probably like the new album (from what I've heard so far).

Listen To This- Stray Bullets

Cee-Lo Green (of Goodie Mob and Gnarls Barkley fame) has long been a staple of the modern music community for his soulful vocals and innovative music.  Here is his newest mixtape, Stray Bullets. Should be pretty good.

I Liked It: Get Him To The Greek

The scene that probably best defines Get Him To The Greek involves a dildo, pubes shaved into the shape of a microphone, a whole bunch of drugs rolled into one joint, a furry wall, an adrenaline shot, and P. Diddy getting hit by a car.  Produced by Judd Apatow, and like almost every Apatow film this movie has its share of gross-out moments, hilarity, and tenderness.  The movie deals with a young intern (Jonah Hill) ordered by his boss (Sean "Diddy" Combs) to transport washed up rock-star (Russell Brand) to Los Angeles in order to play a 10 year anniversary concert.  Both Hill  (playing the straight man for a change) and Brand shine in their respective roles, but P. Diddy stole the show, playing music exec. to hilarious perfection.  Like The Hangover, Get Him To The Greek movie keeps you wondering what will happen next, but lacks the consistent humor which made The Hangover so brilliant.  Though not quite at the same level as the best raunchy comedies, Get Him To The Greek still manages to entertain and provides quite a few laughs.

(A lot of stuff in the trailer isn't in the movie)

On a side note, the fictional band which Brand is the lead singer of, Infant Sorrow, is actually not bad. I picked up the soundtrack, and it's suprisingly enjoyable. Russell Brand definitely has music as a fallback if comedy and acting don't work out.

Infant Sorrow- Bangers and Mash

Infant Sorrow- Just Say Yes

Listen To This: Generator^Second Floor

This another song that I've had for a while, but never got around to listening to me. This band, Freelance Whales, comes highly recommended by Pretty Much Amazing, and deserve recognition due to their mellow, Sufjan Stevenesque vocals and fantastic instrumentals.  This particular track reels you in with some innocently nostalgic opening lines a minute in before breaking out into a gorgeous soundscape of vocals, guitars, and drums.    Enjoy.
