Listen To This: Flash Delirium

A few years ago, MGMT made name for themselves with beautifully simple songs based around lush and memorable synth riffs. Their new song sounds nothing like that.  I'm still deciding how I feel about this, but I thought I'd post it anyway.  See for yourself.

I love this album cover, but I'm not sure if they took the music in the right direction. I'm going to listen to this song 4,000 times and then form an opinion.

I agree with wink. This seems downright ordinary compared to anything on Oracular Spectacular

this could just be one of the crappier songs from their upcoming cd... which may be why it was released so early. idk, just a thought. i still have faith in em that they'll have some better stuff to come

No, bands don't officially release new songs unless they want to create a positive buzz. They've said previously that they are going in a completely different direction with their music, so unfortunately I this will probably be the sound of Congratulations.

well that sucks. and i was only coming from the perspective that songs get leaked. i'm not the biggest mgmt fan so i didn't know that it was an official release

After listening to this several times, I have a different opinion. It reminds me of 60s Psychedelic Rock adding synths which I love. Im not that big a fan of the opening but oh well. In addition, MGMT has released free streams of all the songs on their new album on their website.
